Simpson

The Simpsons is an animated American sitcom. The movie was hilarious but it was not different from the television series.

I never tire of watching the classic episodes, I was a bit anxious when they announced that there going to be a Simpson’s movie. I thought they change the characters, fear not Simpson lovers, nothing changed. You just don’t get see all the characters but then it’s movie not TV series.

Simpson's fans who have watched the movie have to agree that the movie belongs to the TV series which still has outrageous humour.

But if you are fun of the Simpson’s the movie is very funny and entertaining even though it seems like an extended version of an episode.

To sum it up, the movie was as good as the TV show. But I would still recommend the movie to the Simpson’s fans.

300

The story of the 300 Spartans is a classic. The film 300 is based on a comic book. Viewers can either love it or hate it.

The film is made up of fighting scene after another. What caught my attention was the camera work; the special effect set to the film was remarkable.

The graphics exceeded my expectations. I found myself forgetting to listen to the dialogue to admire the background and the beautiful landscapes. Since I saw the film 300 at the cinema, I could not rewind it to watch the parts of the dialogue I missed.

The graphics of the battle scenes showing violence and the slow-motion blood spatters oozing out of the wounds was splendid.

The dialogue did not sit well with me eventhough I missed of it. But other viewers who loved the film have convinced me to buy the DVD, so I will be watching movie soon and this time I will follow the dialogue.

Taking matters in your hands

I recently watched a movie called The Brave One. It is about a woman who struggles to recover from a brutal attack by setting out on a dazed mission for revenge.

Erica Bain is played by Jodie Foster. Bain is beaten badly into a coma and her fiancé is killed by a group of thugs while walking their dog in the park. She awakes three weeks later, finds her fiancé buried and her life in tatters. The thugs recorded the beatings of Erica and her fiance.

This movie got me thinking about the killings going on England at the moment. It brought on powerful emotions and complex, provoked thoughts or to say put ideas in my mind that I never even thought about.

"The Brave One" challenges you to think about what would you do if your loved was killed by thugs? Would I want to take revenge? Or would I have to buy a gun. Or would I want the system to deal with them? The worrying thing is the casual sentences that are given to the criminals? The Home Office shows statistics of the rise and fall of crime over a period of time. I do not feel safe even-though the figures show a reduction in crime. I feel the government can do more on the streets to combat crime to make a safer Britain.

I am for death penalty (for murderers and paedophiles) and pro gun control. I found myself applauding at the end of this marvellous movie. But yet again it made me feel uncomfortable to think about my partner being murdered for no reason at all except for being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

We hear about teenagers killing each other or other people and recording themselves holding firearms and posting videos on website such as MySpace in the news. Isn’t there someone monitoring these sites or at least blocking these posts? The streets are filled with criminals roaming in packs with no fear of the law. Parents are scared of their kids. The system has caused this state of affairs. These kids will grow up to be adults so the time is now for the system to intervene before it is too late.

This movie has left me scared of the person I whom I might become if someone close to me was killed. I think about victims who loved and lost. How do they carry on with the loss? Do they have thoughts of revenge?
